Government, Military, Law Enforcement and Institutional Orders Policy
Shoptics.com is proud to offer its wide selection of products for sale to Government, Military and Institutions. We make the purchase process easy and painless and go the extra step to make sure your organization is completely satisfied. We offer volume discounts to qualified organizations.
Shoptics.com is an authorized CCR Supplier to the United States Government, an active Department of Defense Vendor with Dun & Bradstreet number 118517445. We accept Government and Institutional purchase orders and are capable of processing various bids and RFQ requests. Sales Tax
In most instances, we do NOT charge Sales tax UNLESS your order is shipped to an address within the state of Illinois. Illinois State law requires that we charge sales tax on the full amount of the order, not including shipping, if shipped within the state of Illinois. Because we are located in Northbrook, IL (located in Cook County), all shipments to Illinois addresses are charged at that local rate of 9.75%. No sales tax is charged when buying gift certificates. However, purchases paid for with OpticsPlanet gift certificates, will be charged sales tax if shipped to addresses within the state of Illinois.
In some cases, which vary from state to state, we may be required to charge you sales tax when items are shipped directly from the manufacturer. For example, Large Aperture Telescopes (10” and up) such as the Meade LXD 75 telescope or some Celestron Telescopes may be shipped directly from their respective factories in California. Orders for these items with a Ship-to address located in California will be charged the California rate for sales tax.
In the event that sales tax has to be added to your order, we will notify you immediately with the exact tax amount BEFORE we charge your credit card and have your order shipped.

You will receive email verifications at each stage of the order process, i.e.

- Advice of delay and estimated delivery time for special or out-of-stock items (most of our products are in stock and ship next business day!);

Your receipt of an electronic or other form of order confirmation does not signify our acceptance of your order, nor does it constitute confirmation of our offer to sell. Shoptics.com reserves the right at any time after receipt of your order to accept or decline your order for any reason. All orders placed by credit card are subject to address verification by our credit and fraud avoidance department, and this may delay the processing of your order. This is all done to protect you. When an order needs to be shipped to an address different from the billing address or when an international credit card is used, we might need to obtain your authorization. If you want us to ship your order to an address different from your billing address, we may ask you to pay with your American Express Card to simplify the authorization procedure or to call your credit card issuing bank and add the ship to address as an "authorized alternate shipping address" or to complete our credit card authorization form. International Orders
Shoptics has thousands of satisfied customers from around the world. We specialize in shipping internationally and endeavor to make the process as simple as possible for our customers.
Shipping: We ship most of our products worldwide (please refer to our Shipping Policy and Export Policy and Export Restrictions Page for more information). Shipping charges are automatically calculated during checkout when you enter your address. For shipments outside of the US, shipping charges cannot be $0 in the cart if you select a valid shipping method for your country (see details on intl. shipping here). Please ignore the "Freight" option, it is not a free shipping option as it is used for price quotes on large volume orders.
Currently there are certain counties that we cannot ship to via USPS because of insurance reasons. To see complete list, click here. However, we can ship UPS Worldwide Express or UPS Worldwide Expedited, much faster services.
Fees, Taxes, and Restrictions: Please keep in mind that your government or another entity in your country may impose a charge for custom and/or brokerage fees, duties and taxes on items received from the US. These charges do not originate from our company nor do we benefit from them in any way. You are responsible for payment of all custom and brokerage fees, duties and taxes that may be imposed when these goods are imported into your country. Since these fees will vary from country to country, we do not know what your fees will be and advise you to contact your local government customs agent to determine the rate for the products you would like to purchase. For our Canadian customers, please see UPS Rates for Customs Clearance into Canada. It is often less expensive to select one of the USPS Express Mail International or USPS Priority Mail International shipping methods that we provide to reduce the brokerage fees. To avoid a delay in receiving your product from customs, be sure that you provide us with a phone number where you can be reached when your product arrives.
Shoptics is unable to take responsibility for knowing the local customs duties and import policies for every country we ship to.
Order Verification: The security of our customers’ information is important to us. We reserve the right to verify all order details prior to order processing. This includes the use of third party data resources as well as our own internal security, information and verification procedures.
Pricing: All prices on our site are in US dollars. If you are a non-US customer, your credit card company will normally convert your order total from US dollars to your local currency. We do not have control over the exchange rate, but you can get an idea of what it might be by checking this site http://www.xe.com.
Returns: Shoptics.com allows returns on international order within 30 days of receipt for an exchange or refund. All exchanges and returns require the completion of a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form that is only active for 10 days from the date of submission. Please note that Shoptics.com is not responsible for any shipping charges incurred in returning the merchandise to us or for any shipping charges associated with your new order. Shipping Policy
Shoptics.com provides FREE UPS Ground shipping to the contiguous 48 states on most orders over $29.95. Shoptics.com also proudly offers FREE USPS Priority Mail shipping to all U.S. Military APO/FPO/DPO addresses on most orders over $29.95. For your convenience, most orders under $29.95 within the contiguous 48 states are charged a flat $6.99 UPS shipping fee for UPS Ground service or the applicable USPS charge as calculated by our website.
Competitive shipping rates apply on all shipments to Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands and U.S. Minor Outlying Islands). Please refer to the Shipping How to Guide for further details. To receive an exact shipping cost for orders not qualifying for free shipping, please use the online shipping calculator.
Most in-stock items ship within 1-2 business days from our Northbrook, Illinois warehouse. An email notification is automatically sent upon shipment allowing you to track your package and to determine an estimated time of arrival.

Return Policy
We want your experience with us to be easy and hassle-free. If, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with a purchase, you may return most items within 30 days of receipt for an exchange or full refund. After 30 days from the date of receipt, please contact the manufacturer for possible repair or replacement.
Please be aware that all returns are subject to Shoptics.com's Return Conditions. Items must be returned in NEW condition (i.e., not used, opened, broken or tested), in the original manufacturer's packaging and with all original contents included. For defective items, please review our Defective and Wrong Item Policy.
We do not charge any restocking fees for returned goods meeting the terms of our Return Policy. For a full list of exceptions, please review our Return Policy Exceptions.
All exchanges and returns require the completion of a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form . Once completed, please return the merchandise immediately as the RMA number is only active for 10 days from the date of submission. We highly recommend insuring goods for their full value and safely wrapping items to prevent shipping damage. Charges associated with returning items are the responsibility of the customer unless the item arrived defective, incorrect or broken.
